Welcome to your Freshmen Research Project!
The Freshmen Research Project is designed to teach you the research process, skills, and MLA (Modern Language Association) format you will need here at MHS, in college, and in many careers. During this project, you will research and better understand an important American poet who has made a positive contribution to the literary world.
You should know right away that this research paper is a requirement for all freshmen and must be completed to receive credit for the semester. The project has been divided into progressive steps to ensure your success. Each step of this project must be completed before the next step may be undertaken. If you are late for a step, you will lose credit on that portion of the project and you will still have to make it up in order to receive credit for the next step. All assignments are due during the class period on the date assigned.
Check with your teacher when your essay is due. Even if you are late or absent, your research essay is due! No late papers will be accepted. If you do not hand in a paper on the due date, you will receive a failing grade (F).
